A site about the past (and future) of SEPTA Regional Rail service in West Chester, PA

As promised, here are some shots of WCU Station, located just a few blocks from Market Street Station at Nields Street. Check out the entire set after the jump.

Below that sign, this copper wire lies in a bunch on the ground. Did the copper thieves leave this, or is it leftover from the SEPTA cleanup? Also, I wonder how much it’s worth on the black market?

WCU Station is a dirty shack. For some reason, I can’t imagine it looking much different even back when it was new.

In the background, West Chester Railroad’s cars are parked on a separate track.

Looking down the tracks. Next stop: Westtown nowhere.

Looking back inbound towards the borough. Those WCRR cars are cool, but they’re not getting people to Philadelphia. I’m looking forward to taking a tourist ride to Glen Mills on them, maybe later this year.

With the Borough and County trying to figure out what to do with the old Wyeth Property, and gas prices skyrocketing, now more than ever it makes sense to reinstate R3 service between West Chester and Philly’s 30th St station.

The southwest corner of the Wyeth tract needs to be set aside and redeveloped into a train station that would not only service WCU and southern areas of the Borough, but also whatever development goes into the old Wyeth property.

    It’s a no-brainer.
